Who are Purple Coaching?

Established in the "noughties", Purple Coaching aims to be a leading provider of top quality one-to-one coaching, coach supervision, and mentoring to clients in the UK, and beyond.

Our clients are people who aspire to be the best they can be in their personal and/or professional / business lives.  We are passionate about helping them to reach their potential, and live happy and fulfilled lives.

Purple Coaching's Director, Mary Perkins, describes her Purple vision:

What led me to set-up Purple Coaching?

After spending the previous 15 years in the world of education, training and coaching, I was looking for something that would take me further along in that journey, and allow me to have a wider-reaching positive impact on the lives of others.

I made my business a reality thanks to some help from my friends and thanks to some powerful coaching I received which helped me to realise my business vision.

My first degree was in physics. I trained and qualified as a teacher and have worked in personal development, in one way or another, ever since.  Initially motivated by helping students achieve their full potential, I have always been fascinated by the world of psychology and personal growth, and I completed counselling qualifications in 2000.  But when I came across coaching soon afterwards everything came together for me.

There is nothing so satisfying as knowing that you have had a positive impact on someone’s life.  Purple Coaching is a vehicle for me to support and work with more people than I could on my own.

Personally, many of my clients are themselves coaches.  I love supporting them on their journeys as they develop their own successful coaching practices and businesses - knowing that in doing so I have helped them, and, through them, helped their clients too.

I also love working alongside my Purple Coaching coaches professionally - they are a truly inspiring, positive group of people.  I get a real buzz out of seeing all the great things they achieve, and knowing how much they are all benefiting the lives of others.

What was my profession before becoming a coach?

I have done a number of things since graduating from Manchester University in 1994 but they have primarily been focused around helping people achieve their full potential, and be the best that they can be.

As well as my extensive teaching experience, and the counselling, I have been a corporate sales trainer and team-leader/coach, events/conference organiser and speaker, the director of a small IT business with a friend, a partner in a model-making business and, most recently (before establishing Purple Coaching), set-up my own tuiton agency education business, which is still flourishing in Altrincham, Manchester.

Qualifying as a coach (with The Coaching Academy) and setting up Purple Coaching was, for me, the next logical step.

As Director of Purple Coaching, everything I do builds perfectly on my experience thus far in teaching, training, business, counselling and of course, coaching.

What do I enjoy most about being a coach?

I am truly passionate about what I do.  I get real satisfaction from helping people see beyond (and knock down) the obstacles in their way, and become the best that they can be.

I cannot imagine anything more satisfying than supporting others as they fulfil their potential and achieve all they want to achieve, either professionally, personally, or both.

It is an honour to be let into people’s lives and businesses; to see people change, grow and succeed, and to be a part of that, is an amazing feeling.

I have had the privilege of working with people who were at their lowest ebb: walking them through getting new jobs, new relationships, weightloss, etc and supporting them while they totally re-evaluate their outlook on life.   I have also had the privilege of working with high-flyers, challenging them to be at the top of their game, to excel in what they do.

Whatever a client brings to our sessions, and whatever they take away from them, I always come away glad to have been a part of their journey.

I cannot think of a better thing to do with my time.
